冷水江市堪称全国绝无仅有的一块宝地。是湖南省重要的能源、原材料基地，享有“世界锑都”、“江南煤海”、“金属之乡”、“硅石宝库”的美誉。现已探明具有开采价值的矿藏有锑、铅、铁、锌、镁、钨、钼、铋、铜、钴、镍、镉、铊、银等金属和稀有金属矿，还有石墨、硅石、滑石、石英、石膏、花岗岩、耐火粘土等非金属矿。其中锑产量占全球的60%。煤炭的地质储量5.5亿吨，保有储量4.5亿吨，占全省已探明储量的1/6，全市含煤地层占总面积的一半。近年，在冷水江的地层中，还发现储存近360余亿立方米颇具开采前景的煤层气和天然气，并于2001年开采成功，结束了湖南无气的历史。 |
Lengshuijiang city is an important producer of energy and raw materials and is well-known as the world antimony capital, coal ocean in the south of China, hometown of metal, and treasury land of silica of which many are worth exploring, such as iron ore, lead, zinc, magnesium, tungsten, molybdenum, bismuth, cobalt, cadmium, thallium and other rare metals. None-metals with potential for development include marble, granite, graphite, silica, talcum, quarts, gypsum and dolomite. The production of antimony counts for 60% in the world. The coal geographical reserve is estimated at 0.55 billion tons, ensured reserve 0.45 billion tones, which counts for 1/6 of all coal reserves in Hunan. In recent years, natural gas reserves has been found and is estimated at 36 billion cubic metres, and it was exploited successfully in 2001.
冷水江市旅游资源丰富，如诗如画的山水洞岩，秀丽妩媚的无限风光，让人心醉。国家级风景点“天下第一洞”---波月洞被称为世界岩溶博物馆，拥有空心鹅管、网状石槽、巨型石坝“三大世界之最”，电视连续剧《西游记》曾在此拍摄。大乘山景区，“不是南岳，胜似南岳”，青山绿水，云雾缭绕，令人流连忘返。其它如周头湖渡假村、茶花溪、鸿云洞、仙憩洞等景点都各有千秋，引人入胜。
冷水江市水资源充裕。资江流域面积达326.5平方公里，年过境水量达126亿多立方米，工业及生活用水十分方便。电力充足，2002年供电总量达8.4亿千瓦时。
冷水江市劳动力资源丰富，拥有产业工人10万以上，各类熟练工种齐全。2002年，全市共有高级工程师23名，各类高中级专业技术人员2951名。

Lengshuijiang has ample water supply comprising unground water and Zijiang River which forms 326.5km2 of drainage area, the average yearly water flow reaches as high as 12.6 billion m3,which supply plenty of water source for industry use and living purpose. Rich power supply is available, in 2002 the total power supply is 0.84 billion kilowatt-hour. Abundant manpower is available with 100000 industry workers, and among them there are all types of skilled workers. In 2002, there are 23 senior engineer, 2951 other technicians on the middle and senior level.
